Sara Danielsson


Sara Danielsson is a graphic designer and multidisciplinary artist from Portland, Oregon currently based out of Malmö, Sweden. Her practice encompasses the mediums of visual identity, editorial design, animation and illustration. Combining digital and analogue processes using texture, movement, and experimentation, she produces work that feels contemporary and exciting while retaining a tactile, humanistic quality.

“Babies”, 2026
 For Sam Milton’s first show featuring his then-newly formed band, he handed me a camcorder and asked if I could record his performance. I took that duty on with great pride, and decided to use the footage I had to create a semi-documentary featuring his music and interviews with available band members. I created several animations for this video based off his song titles in a variety of different methods (”Babies”, “When The Dog Comes to Bite”, and this puppet intro.) For this clip, I hand drew a baby walking using traditional 2D animation techniques. I scanned each frame of the baby in and set it against an animation comprised of Gansai paint spreading across paper. The “Babies” text is also hand-animated using traditional techniques. The watercolor animation was the result of over 100 individual frames, composed in a stop-motion fashion.
