Students in the Visual Communication program at Östra Grevie folkhögskola were asked to design something for a hypothetical colony on Mars. My concept was a form of government identification that could be worn over a space suit. This wearable pass would aid in movement between occupied zones on Mars. It was designed to be rudimentary so that it could still function despite electricity outages and dust storms. It would also be created using materials found on Mars. The device was rendered using a 3D program on my iPad.
Later, I worried that none of the logic behind my invention was adding up. I decided to then present this device as having been a failed experiment by a shady, mysterious C.I.A-like government agency.
