“Lång Kväll” hypothetical branding exercise, 2024
During my first few months of school at Östra Grevie folkhögskola in 2023, I participated in a class-wide yearly competition where students from the Graphic Design program design a beverage label and then vote on their favorite. My design idea came the morning of the competition: a label featuring a Daschund dog so long that he reaches morning to night, called “Lång Kväll”. This translates to “long night” in Swedish. I hurriedly created the label in under 2 hours using Procreate and slapped the printed version on a soda bottle I bought from the school lunch room. My design ended up getting voted as the winner of that contest.

During my second year at Östra Grevie, which is primarily self-lead, I decided I wanted to try revisiting the Lång Kväll idea in a more professional way. I kept the Dachshund, of course. Lång Kväll became a fictitious brand of red wine. The label features a geometric and expressive typeface modified to enhance the rhythm and shape of the long dog. The following images featuring the label printed on a wine glass are mock-up images.
